Snoop Dogg (or Lion?) @ Paramount Theatre, LI

Snoop D-O-Double G says a recent trip to Jamaica has changed him spiritually and altered his direction with music.  He recorded Reincarnated, a reggae album with producers Diplo and Major Lazer.  A high priest from the caribbean island even convinced him to change his stage name to Snoop Lion.  Is it possible that fans would no longer get to hear him perform Doggystyle classics?   No.  At Paramount Theatre in Huntington, LI, Snoop gave the excited crowd exactly what they came for.  On a quiet Wednesday of all days, the Doggfather was joined on stage by Tha Dogg Pound (Daz & Kurupt) and his mascot Nasty Dogg.  “Do we have any weed smokers in the house tonight,” he asked.  It didn’t take long for the aroma of marijuana to get back to him and let him know it was time to start the party.  The smile on his face said it all.  The packed crowd went nuts during an hour-long set that included the hits “Nuthin’ But a G Thang, “The Next Episode”, “Drop It Like It’s Hot”, “Sexual Eruption” and “What’s My Name”.  Tonight, we didn’t hear any songs from the upcoming reggae project.  It was OG Dogg.  Hump day is usually when most of us look forward to the approaching weekend and anticipate surviving the rest of the week.  This night was that and so much more.
