The Avengers – Official Movie Anticipator

This trailer comes after several years of initial development and last month’s 30-second spot during the Super Bowl.  Marvel fans have been waiting for this union of superpower ever since Hulk and Iron Man proved to be successes.   Don’t know what that snake-looking beast at the end of this clip was but this movie is shaping up to draw all of our curious questions.  The Avengers comes to a theater near you Friday, May 4th.  You ready?

Jon Connor – “Broken Mirrors” (Video)

Music with a message.  Jon looks at himself and those around him to ask what’s really good.  This one’s off of his Salvation album.  How many of us know some of the characters in this video?

Action Bronson and Party Supplies Present Blue Chips

Looking forward to this  project.

“Blue Chips is an off the cuff, spontaneous project that started as a vibe session one winter afternoon and spiraled into a 17 song dusted journey through the warped comedic minds of Action Bronson and the prodigy producer/artist known simply as Party Supplies.

This journey includes appearances by Roc Marci, Meyhem Lauren and Das Racist and was recorded in the confines of Party Supplies Williamsburg chalet. It’s a project as opposed to a mixtape or an album and sits in a nether world somewhere between the two.

Most of all it’s a moment in time made in a 3 week period of hanging out at Party Supplies house. In between cheese plates, snaps and spliffs the 2 artists came up with this testament of creativity and spontaneity.”

STS – GOLDrush (Mixtape)

Vintage Throwback – Raekwon

There was actually a time when more than one video was made to help promote an artist’s album.  Six were put out for this classic!  Hearing this on the radio for the first time was crazy.  Gunshots, explosions, Sic snares and bass drums, organs, violins, some chick belting vocals at the top of her lungs all off key.  WTF?  Somehow RZA made all those sounds blend together.  Add on top of that the lyrical swordsplay of Chef, Ghost and Masta Killa.  “Glaciers of Ice” is still one of my top five joints off of 1995’s Only Built 4 Cuban Linx.  What’s yours?

Movie Review: Act of Valor

There’s a first time for everything right?  I was feeling adventurous this weekend and went with a friend to see Act of Valor without reading any reviews.  To take it a step further, I didn’t even watch the trailer for this film.  War movies wouldn’t show up on my all time favorite list but this seemed more like an action flick.  It was the title and movie poster that initiated interest.   Read the rest of this entry
