RIP- Sylvia Robinson

Born in Harlem, NY, Sylvia Robinson crafted a career as a songwriter.  Whether it was 1957’s “Love is Strange” or 1973’s “Pillow Talk”, Sylvia’s work was a constant presence on the Billboard charts.  Her observations of the interaction between the DJ and the crowd at a birthday party would help to generate the culture we know today as Hip-Hop.  Read the rest of this entry
